Today's speech was astronomical and enlightening, as it presented facts and evidence on how our constitution was ‘tinkered’ with by politicians who should have been protecting the sovereignty of the people. Furthermore, a critical discussion followed, addressing the issue of ethics and practice. The conclusion was that the ‘Rule of Law’ must be applied equally to all people accountable and that rewards or punishments should also be meted out, irrespective of affiliations or designations. This was summarised as the foundation of ethics. Thus, if ethical practice is required in our parliament, we need the above principle and a provision to enforce ethics through the rule of law.
